Am a mauritian girl of 19 years,am doing my HSC with 5 subjects Biology,Art and French as my main subject.I am interested to work in the mauritius of forensic and crime investigation.Is it possible to do the courses in mauritius please help me to proceed.Great thanks in advance.

hi,
i`am originally from mauritius and right now i`am studying forensic science in the US, i don`t think you will have a career prospect in mauritius as it is a small island, if you want to work in the US where there is lots of forensic science jobs , it will not be possible. you must know that any degree from university of mauritius or any school or college in mauritius cannot be used to get a job in the US, it has no academic value in US , and also university of mauritius won`t be able to provide up to date equipments for practice and research in lab for students, these equipments might cost them millions and with the little tuition fees that student give, it will not be possible….! no practice means that during your internship or when working later, it will be very difficult for you. and also internship with a crime lab is needed ( like the fbi ,or any other) no internship means that you won`t get any job with that degree. but if you want to work only in mauritius it will be ok. furthermore it will cost less money to complete the degree, to complete a BS in forensic science (any track criminalistics, molecular biology or toxicology )degree in US, it will cost you $60,000 a year, if multiplied by 5 years for a Bs will be around $300,000, that is like 12 millions rs, and if you add a masters to it you must add $200,000 more. i strongly do not advise anyone to do the forensic science degree from mauritius because later if you do not get any jobs in mauritius, you cannot use the degree.

I just finished my HSC course and i have always been eager to do a course in forensic science and i intend to work in the mauritian department of forensics and crime investigation.i’ve done mathematics(main),chemistry(main) and physics(sub) and i’m awarded first in physics sub.Is it possible to do the course in mauritius?please help me with how to proceed.
