Mcafee To Expand Its Indian Operations

According to its top company official, leading US-based anti-virus and security risk management firm, McAfee Inc. will invest $80 million to expand its operations in India over the next four years.

“The additional investments in our Indian subsidiary will go in for hiring 400 people to ramp up the headcount to about 1,000 people by 2008, and engineering ownership of multiple products for enhancing global security solutions.” McAfee Chairman, George Samenuk told reporters here.

The firm’s largest facility world over, McAfee India development centre focuses on research and development of security solutions and product innovation. “The Indian operation facility has enabled us to raise our top line growth, and nearly double the margins to 25% from around 13% during the last four years. One-third of our total research and development workforce operate from the India centre.” Samenuk said.

And, McAfee India has been responsible for the development of over a dozen products and newer versions of online security solutions for its $987-million parent company. As a part of its expansion plans, McAfee’s engineering teams at the Indian centre, together with its global product management team will leverage their strengths for greater coordination and synergy.

“Our growth in the sub-continent is faster than in any part of the world due to increasing awareness for intrusion prevention and foolproof security solutions by enterprises in the region.” Samenuk pointed out.

According to Sridhar Jayanthi, Head - McAfee India Operations, ownership of product lifecycle from development to customer support will help drive innovation for the Indian and APAC customers. “Besides providing global labs access and remote access technology, we will assist our Indian customers in deploying their new security solutions through our unique support programmes.” Jayanthi said.
