May 23, 2008

Yes guys, that’s true! The Hollywood couple, Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones, will fly to India to shoot their film Racing the Monsoon early next year.

Michael Douglas had tied up with Indian production house, Percept Picture Company, when he earlier came to India to announce Racing the Monsoon, a sequel to his 1984 superhit flick, Romancing the Stone.

The movie, an action thriller about a diamond robbery on an Indian train, would pair Douglas with wife Catherine Zeta Jones. The film will also have Matt Damon.

The shooting will begin in January 2009.

The UK’s Telegraph quotes Zeta Jones as saying: “I’m looking forward to going to India…Michael and I are developing a script that will be set in India. We will take our kids and all of us will come there, set up camp in India and shoot a film.”

Interestingly, Douglas is reportedly keen to have some song-and-dance - popular Bollywood staple - in Racing the Monsoon!

“I have had an interesting and wonderful education in Indian music and the movie better have some songs,” Douglas is quoted as saying. Douglas added that he has been “following and studying Indian culture” closely and has been “fascinated by it”.

‘Racing the Monsoon, which will most likely be directed by Steve Carr, will be shot in Mumbai, Jaisalmer and Kolkata.

Estimated to have a budget of £30 million, the film will be jointly produced by Douglas’ Further Films and India’s Percept Picture Company. It will be the first full-fledged Hollywood-Bollywood collaboration.

Stay tuned in!
