‘Missed Call’ Wins Best International Film At The Red International Film Festival, Israel

Sixty-five films took part in the Red International Film Festival, Eilat, Israel, including “California Dreamin’”, a 2007 Romanian film by Cristian Nemescu which won the Prix Un certain regard at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival, “Mama’s Boy” starring Diane Keaton and Deepa Mehta’s Water.
The festival screened films from 20 nations and held competitions for Best Foreign Film, Best Israeli Film, Best Children Film and Best short film. The festival’s guest of honor was actor Charles Dance of the Royal Shakespeare Company, who presented his first film as a director and screenwriter, “Ladies in Lavender”. Israel was represented by “Lemon Tree”, “Beaufort”, “Aviva My Love” and “Things behind the Sun”.
Missed Call the debut film of Reelism Films was selected for the Best International Film Award. The festival was held at the famous Israeli resort city of Eilat located on the southern tip of Israel and on the northern shores of the Red sea.
Missed Call is a poignant tribute to the passionate young men and women who dream of putting their stories on celluloid. Set against an urbane backdrop, the film deals with a young man’s obsession with his camera and his dream of making a film. The film explores varied situations of emotional adversity, which ultimately lead the protagonist onto making a film on himself.
