Morgan Tsavingirai in Kenya to “learn About Power Sharing Deal”
August 22, 2008
The Zimbabwean opposition leader, Morgan Tsavingirai is in Kenya to borrow and share ideas on Kenya’s experience on power sharing deal in a bid to resolve the political crisis in Zimbabwe.
Speaking as he held talks with Odinga at his Nairobi offices on Thursday, Tsavingirai said that Zimbabwe has a lot to borrow from Kenya’s experience on the power sharing deal and that his country might benefit from Kenya.
“The objective of our visit is to consult widely on the crisis that is not yet resolved in Zimbabwe and we are consulting here in Africa especially in Kenya because we want to borrow lessons from experience of what happened in Kenya and what is likely to happen in Zimbabwe and we are are here to compare notes”, said Tsavingirai.
He exuded confidence that the mediation talks chaired by South African President, Thabo Mbeki between him and Robert Mugabe will find a political solution on a power sharing deal in the Southern African country.
Kenya formed a Grand Coalition government on February between President Mwai Kibaki and Prime Minister, Raila Odinga ending the country’s worst post election violence sparked by last years bungled Presidential elections.
