Ms Sarah Cowley Succeeds Mr Andrew Soper As Ambassador to the Republic of Latvia

Sarah CowleyMs Sarah Cowley has been appointed Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of Latvia. She will succeed Mr Andrew Soper, who will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment. Ms Cowley will take up her appointment during May 2013.

Ms Cowley joined the FCO in 2005 and is currently Deputy Head of the Commercial and Economic Diplomacy Department. Her FCO career has covered a wide range of roles including working on and in Afghanistan and Pakistan, Middle East issues and a secondment to the European External Action Service. Ms Cowley started her career in the private sector and held a variety of roles in the UK and overseas before joining the FCO.

On her appointment as Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of Latvia, Ms Cowley has said:

“I am delighted to be appointed as British Ambassador to the Republic of Latvia. It is a great privilege to have the opportunity to work with Latvia to further strengthen our political and economic relations and achieve our shared objectives. I look forward to building on the strong British Latvian relationship and working with Latvia on issues of importance to both our countries.”
