Former South African President Nelson Mandela of South Africa left for Britain on Monday ahead of a celebrity-studded concert to be staged for his 90th birthday on Friday in the British capital of London.
The elder statesman is expected to host a dinner party with celebrities and world leaders, including British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, on Wednesday, according to a program.
His birthday concert, featuring the group Queen, Leona Lewis, Annie Lennox and Dame Shirley Bassey - among others - will be staged in Hyde Park on 27 June, the program adds.
There will also be South African music from the Soweto Gospel Choir to add spice to the star-studded event.
