NEPAD Founding Nations to Meet with G8 Countries in Japan

Egypt has announced that it would participate in the “partnership with Africa” meeting to be held in the Japanese capital of Tokyo on 7 and April 8.
The meeting will be attended by the personal representatives of the African heads of state who are founders of the NEPAD initiative and representatives of the leaders of the G8 countries.
Ambassador Ibrahim Hassan, the personal representative of President Hosni Mubarak in the NEPAD initiative and leader of Egypt’s delegation to the Tokyo meeting, said the meeting will be held in connection with the June summit of the heads of the founding nations of the NEPAD initiative in the Japanese city of Hokkaido.
The countries are Egypt, Algeria, Senegal, Nigeria, South Africa and Ghana (the current chair of the African Union).
The summit will address cooperation in the implementation of the objectives of NEPAD initiative, peace and security, foreign investment and role of women in development in Africa, Hassan said.
The African group delegated Egypt to speak on behalf of Africa in the forum and to present a vision for Africa and proposals for the development of joint cooperation with the G8 countries, he added.
