125px-Flag_of_Chad.svg1Brigadier General Ali Maïde Kebir has been appointed new Chief of Staff of the Chadian army. Kebir replaces Brigadier General Touka Ramadan Korei who held this position for a year and a half.

The new chief of staff appointed on Thursday is aged 48. His first and second deputies are Brigadier General Marc Ndoubayo and General Daoud Yaya Brahim respectively.

Earlier this month, former rebel leader General Hassane Saleh Al Gadam Al Jineidi was removed as Chief of General Staff of the Chadian army and replaced by Brigadier General Alain Mbaïodenande Dionadji.

General Ahamat Mahamat Youssouf Itno, a nephew of President Deby Itno, is the first deputy Chief of General Staff.

General Abdallah Ibrahim Gog remains second deputy Chief of General Staff.

Gog is a former rebel leader who led rebels to the gates of the capital in the April 2006 raid, before being dislodged with the support of the French army.
