The Niger government has endorsed the demarcation of the international boundaries in Lake Chad between Cameroon, Niger, Nigeria and Chad, signed since 14 February 1990 in N’Djamena. This act was approved by the 8th Summit of heads of state and Government of the Lake Chad Basin Commission on 21 to 23 March 1994 in Abuja, Nigeria.
Presented as minutes, the demarcation act was signed by the experts from four border countries on 14 February 1990 in N’Djamena (Chad).
Niger, Nigeria, Chad and Cameroon created the Commission of the Lake Chad Basin (LCBC) in May 1964, a permanent dialogue body established in order to coordinate efforts of different countries that could affect the basin water of this river and the peaceful settlement of disputes and problems affecting this area.
This organization received in 1999, admitted its fifth member. the Central African Republic.
