The Nigerian government has explained that the dissolution of the federal cabinet and removal of all ministers was aimed “at injecting fresh blood and bringing even greater vigor to governance’’.
In a two-paragraph statement issued on Wednesday by Mr Ima Niboro, the Senior Special Assistant to Acting President Goodluck Jonathan, he said “It is part of the larger strategy to frontally confront the core challenges that face the nation at this critical moment of our history.”
Acting President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday dissolved the cabinet and ordered all ministers to hand over to their permanent secretaries, pending the formation of a new cabinet.
This move is seen by political observers as an attempt for the Acting President to re-assert his authority over the government.
