Nigeria, Czech Republic Embassy in Film Festival Week, December

Flag of the Czech RepublicThe Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) has revealed its collaboration with the National Film Institute (NFI) and the Embassy of Czech Republic to host a film festival week from December 5-6, 2012.

A statement by the film corporation on Wednesday in Abuja confirmed that the festival tagged: ‘Czech New Wave’ was the first collaboration of its kind between the NFC, NFI and Czech Republic and that some of the best films of Czech cinematography would be screened.

“Some of the best films of Czech Cinematography from a 1960s film movement called the ‘Czech New Wave’ will be screened during the festival,” it said.

According to the organizers, the festival is open to film students, enthusiasts and the public and that participants must be up to 18 years.

Mr Afolabi Adesanya, the Managing Director of the corporation said “movies speak a universal language thus improving mutual understanding and serving as bridge between nations.”

The festival was coming on the heels of other festivals the corporation had hosted with other embassies including those of the United States, Spain, France, China, Egypt, Ukraine, Mexico among others.

The Film Week will seek to strengthen bilateral agreements on Culture and Film between Nigeria and other nations.
