Nigeria Prosecutes 32 People for Selling Pornographic Films

March 6, 2008

The Director General of the Kano State Film Censorship Board, Malam Abubakar Rabo Abdulkarim, Wednesday said that 32 people were prosecuted in Kano in the last two days over the sale of pornographic films in the town.

Abdulkarim told journalists in Kano, about 450km from Abuja that the offenders had already shown remorse.

He said that the law establishing the board had mandated it to monitor and control the circulation of pornographic films in the state.

The board, he added, had the mandate of prosecuting offenders.

Abdulkarim noted that such transactions could be in electronic, still picture form or in Internet cafes.
