Nigeria, Virgin Atlantic Airline Locked in a Legal Battle Over Relocation
February 22, 2008
The Nigerian government and the world renowned business mogul, Richard Branson, the owner of Virgin Atlantic airlines faced each other in a Nigerian Court on Friday over a dispute of relocation.
Sir Branson, whose ‘Virgin Nigeria’ is a subsidiary of his fleet of airlines, is contesting an order by the Nigerian government to relocate their Lagos operations.
The African carrier, with 49% owned by Virgin Atlantic, has been told to move from Lagos Murtala Mohammed International airport terminal to the domestic terminal in Lagos.
But Virgin London office argued Friday that relocating “our operations to the Lagos most chaotic domestic terminal breaches a contract with the Nigerian government”.
