Nigerian Suicide Bomber Killed in a Failed Attempt to Detonate His Explosives Near the Emir of Fika in Yobe
A Nigerian suicide bomber has been killed in a failed attempt to detonate his explosives near the Emir of Fika in Yobe, Alhaji Mohammed Ibn Abali Idris on Friday in Potiskum.
The Emir escaped unhurt as the suicide bomber at the Potiskum Central Mosque in Yobe state, northeast Nigeria tried to reach him.
The Yobe Police Command’s spokesperson, Mr Toyin Gbadegesin, said the bomber struggled to get close to the emir after Friday prayers, but was prevented by a policeman.
He said the bomber made frantically tried to push his way through the crowd to reach the emir, but the policeman suspecting his intentions pulled him down.
The spokesman said that upon falling down, one of the concealed explosives detonated and killed the bomber, while five policemen and two civilians sustained injuries.
Gbadegesin stated that the police anti-bomb squad, thereafter, detonated some other un-exploded devices carried by the bomber.
