Obama Heads for Big Win in Maine; Clinton Shakes Up Campaign Staff

February 10, 2008

barack obamaAmerican news media have declared Senator Barack Obama the winner of the Democratic Party’s presidential caucus in the state of Maine.

With 70 percent of polling places reporting late Sunday, Obama led Senator Hillary Clinton by a margin of 58 percent to 41 percent.

Once the vote is final, Maine’s 24 delegates to the Democratic Party’s national convention in late August will be divided proportionally between Obama and Clinton.

The two senators have been competing in primary elections and party caucuses throughout the country, campaigning for the Democratic nomination for the presidential election in November.
On Sunday, Clinton replaced her campaign manager. Campaign officials say longtime aide Maggie Williams will take over later this week from departing campaign manager Patty Solis Doyle, also a longtime confidant of Hillary Clinton.

Obama won state primary elections or caucuses Saturday in Louisiana, Nebraska and Washington state, as well as in the U.S. Virgin Islands. All four victories were by margins of 20 percentage points or greater.

Clinton holds a slim lead in the tally of party delegates needed to secure nomination at the party convention later this year, but neither she nor Obama are close to gaining a majority.

In contests for the Republican Party nomination, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee scored surprising wins in Louisiana and Kansas Saturday over the frontrunning candidate, Arizona Senator John McCain.

McCain captured a slim victory in Washington state Saturday, and still has a sizable lead in the overall delegate count.

Huckabee said in a CBS television interview Sunday that his campaign is energized, and that he may stay in the race through the Republican convention.

Candidates from both parties face off Tuesday in primary elections in the states of Virginia and Maryland and Washington. The U.S. capital is in the District of Columbia.

It is not surprising that Senator Obama is winning, however it will be sad and I truly feel sorry for him. My reasons? Well it is going to come down to the convention and Howard Dean, and with Howard Deans statements concerning his visceral dislike of blacks, Obama does not stand a chance. Now granted it will be a nice and very tactful turn down. say like “well Senator Obama is young and can run again while for Hillary it is now or never. Well, why that may be true, here is the problem. Senator Obama’s appeal to the idealistic youth is tied to HIS youth. In 8 years he will be 50+ and the aforementioned Idealistic youth will be 30ish. with actual hopes and dreams, that revolve around their careers and families. For the most part they will have become rational, free thinking adults. They will be far less likely to believe it’s ok to hold them accountable for the actions of others. The people they are now, they will not be in 8 years. Forcing Obama to reinvent himself for a whole new generation of Idealists. If another Obama has not come around by then. Like I said in the beginning I truly feel for Senator Obama.

If you had one criteria to choose a president. the criteria being “Who makes the best commander in chief of our armed forces in time of war?” Who would you choose?
McCain the war hero and all his background in leadership and military
Hillary Clinton with 8 years in white house next to her husband, 7 years in arms services committee, 12 years first lady of Arkansa with bunch of full star generals backing her or
Obama, with two years in Senate and no background in military? but he has a vision and can connect across the isle?
    answer:
If you are Republican, congradulations, McCain wins. If you are democrat, and for Obama, you are the reason why McCain wins, we are screwed, because Obama looses in General election against McCain for this one reason only. Specially McCain has a history of reaching across the isle himself, and democrats like him, and also they don’t have the backbone to take a big risk about national security, demonstrated in previous elections and by their votes in congress in regard to national security and war, so enough of them will go for McCain to get him elected. Mark my words. I say if dems go with heart again and not head, and they don’t go for Clinton they have no chance to take the White House again folks

I am sooooooo tired of Obama being shoved at me day and night…he is not the second coming of Christ….He is winning because he is having GOP members go out and caucase and vote for him, telling them on his web site, they can go back to being a GOP member the next day…Does anyone really believe that these wins, (expecially after finding out that McCain is the GOP nom), are really going to go to the polls and vote for him in the general???? Please people, wake up, there is so much dirt on this man (and the media not reporting it), you can bet the GOP will tear him apart in the fall, and the GOP will still have the white house, and we will still be screwed…The GOP doesn’t want to go up against Hillary, her dirt is already out there, nothing new…and she is tuff…they would much rather go up agaist a man that doesn’t want to debate Hillary, (chicken) says “change” (change what) says “our time has come” (our time has come for what) OBAMA IS NOTHING MORE THAN MEDIA AND OPRAH MADE….WITH SOME FINANCIAL HELP FROM REZKO…
