The Organisation for the Development of Senegal River Valley (OMVS) has donated 200,000 treated mosquito nets to help Mauritania fight malaria.
This donation is part of the 775,000 mosquito nets the OMVS will distribute to each of its four member countries (Senegal, Mauritania, Mali, and Guinea) to help them fight malaria.
Previous batches of mosquito nets were donated to Mauritania for people living in the Senegal River area, with one net for every family with a child under fives year of age.
The present batch will cover other areas exposed to malaria and will be distributed to the tune of two nets per family.
Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, the OMVS High Commissioner, on Wednesday, handed over the gifts to Mauritania’s Health Minister, Cheikh El Moctar Ould Horma.
