More than 300,000 students in Morocco on Tuesday started the Baccalaureate exams including more than 130,000 girls, which is a rise of 5.9 percent compared to the previous year, APA learned in Casablanca.

About 230,000 public school candidates (6.1% increase compared to 2007) are doing the exams while the remainder come from private schools, the Moroccan education ministry revealed.

The arts students are more than 140,000 against about 150,000 for science students.

This year’s exams are being held whereas a new education reform plan is under way. The reform’s goal is to “boost Moroccan education”.
