Indian American Film Maker Parthiban Shanmugam’s Latest Film ‘A Pizza Story’

Award winning IndianAmerican film makerParthiban Shanmugam’s latest film ” A pizza Story”will be premiering at “IFFC- 2008,(March 27 - 30)Jaipur, India as a USA entry into the competitive section.

This time Parthiban is taking a very daring bold look at the US invasion on Iraq through the eyes of an 8 year old child. The film evolves with the father and daughter love and separation. When eight year - old Eliana’s father is sent to Iraq, she learns that it’s not only soldiers who go to war. When a family member is sent into foreign conflict, the entire family is put in harm’s way.

Along with her preganant mother, Eliana strudgles with her fear for her father’s life as well as her fear of her family’s disintegration. And against the backdrop of mounting casualities in Iraq, she searches for a way to preserve her family and bring her father home. Magical realism mixes with a child’s magical thinking to force a crisis. When her father departed, he promised Eliana that the whole family would be reunited at their favorite restaurant. With a child’s limited understanding but a warrior’s heart, she sets out alone to find the restaurant. In the course of adventure, she faces the ultimate test of her courage and her love.
