Lesotho police have discovered a consignment of Gold Star Yeast estimated to be worth close to $40,000, after raiding some of the foreign owned businesses in the districts of Mafeteng and Maseru the capital.
Inspector Mokete Phephetho of the Lesotho Mounted Police Service said here Saturday that the yeast was discovered in the continuing police raids, following dissatisfaction from Basotho that the product fail to produce results.
However, he appealed to Basotho not to panic as the product has been proven to be risk free, after experts tested it, but noted that the relevant ingredients were found to be missing.
The fake Gold Star Yeast seemed to have been made in China, but no other details like labels and full addresses of the manufacturing company were given.
