zambiaThe Police Commissioner for Central Province in Zambia, Solomon Jere, said on Friday that they have seized three motor vehicles and an assortment of goods from a farm belonging to the former Zambian Vice President George Kunda within the framework of ongoing investigations into crimes alleged to have been committed under former President Rupiah Banda.

Apart from the motor vehicles, other goods seized include bags of maize meal, bicycle pumps, and campaign materials such as T-shirts that were used by the former ruling party the Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) in their September campaigns.

Solomon Jere said the farm from where the goods were seized is located in the farming town of Serenje, north of the capital Lusaka.

However, Kunda reacted angrily to the seizures and said he deserved to be respected by police because he had served in the second highest position in the country.

He added that a light truck was also seized from the youth leader of the MMD Moses Muteteka during the same operation.

The current Patriotic Front (PF) government has declared it will pursue all former government leaders that are alleged to have abused their positions to amass personal wealth, as well as abused public finances to fund the MMD elections campaign.
