125px-Flag_of_Togo.svgKofi Yamgnane, candidate for the February 2010 presidential election in Togo has said in a telephone conversation with APA that the Togolese authorities’ decision to expel a French diplomat was “a sign that the executive is panicking”.

The Togolese authorities have now decided to expel Eric Bosc, first secretary of the French embassy in Lome, who was responsible for monitoring the politics of the country.

It is alleged that the French diplomat has close relations with Kofi Yamgnane former mayor of St. Coulitz in Brittany, France.

France supports its diplomat whose “professionalism is acknowledged”. It took a reciprocal step and requested the departure of a diplomat from the Togolese embassy in Paris.

“Eric Bosc is a long-time friend,” Yamgnane said.

“His expulsion is meaningless, this is evidence that the executive is panicking,” he added.

He also revealed that everything is done in Togo to prevent him from meeting people, going to villages and prefectures.

“When my candidacy was announced, they laughed but they see the danger as we go and today it’s panic all around in the ruling party ahead of the 2010 presidential election,” said Kofi Yamgnane, denying reports of his arrest in Lome.

Aged 64, Kofi Yamgnane, was also secretary of state in France under François Mitterrand.
