Powerball Jackpot Jumps to $42 Million; $800,000 Power Play Prize Won!
June 15, 2008
Even though the grand prize was not awarded Saturday evening, 1 lucky ticket in North Carolina matched all 5 white numbers with the Power Play and won a whopping $800,000 cash! An amazing 5 other winners matched all 5 white numbers for $200,000.
These lucky tickets were purchased in Louisiana (2), Pennsylvania (2), and Tennessee (1). In addition, 443,650 tickets across the nation won a total of $5,626,096 in prizes.
Because no one correctly matched all six numbers in Saturday’s drawing the jackpot will grow to an estimated $42 million!
The cash option for the Wednesday, June 18th drawing will be an estimated $20.1 million.
The numbers drawn Saturday night were 9, 11, 20, 31, 50 and the Powerball was 14. The Power Play multiplier was 4.
Other prizes won Saturday evening included thirty-one tickets that matched 4 white numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000. Five additional tickets that won at this prize level also wisely purchased the Power Play and had the $10,000 winnings multiplied by 4 to $40,000!
A total of 94,338 winning Powerball tickets multiplied their prizes by 4 Saturday. Players were able to do that by purchasing the Power Play option for one dollar. With Power Play you multiply your Powerball winnings from 2 to 5 times, except for the jackpot. At the beginning of each drawing a wheel is spun to select that night’s multiplier.
Players purchased $18,708,319 in Powerball and Power Play tickets between Thursday and Saturday night.
