Powerball Jackpot Reaches $20 Million; Two $1 Million Power Play Prizes Won
July 6, 2008
Even though the grand prize was not awarded Saturday evening, 2 lucky tickets in DC (1) and Indiana (1) matched all 5 white numbers with the Power Play and won $1 million cash each! Two other winners matched all 5 white numbers for $200,000 in the state of Maine (1) and Missouri (1). In addition, 393,899 tickets across the nation won a total of $5,786,110 in prizes.
Because no one correctly matched all six numbers in Saturday’s drawing the jackpot will grow to an estimated $20 million!
The cash option for the Wednesday, July 9th drawing will be an estimated $9.8 million.
The numbers drawn Saturday night were 1, 24, 34, 47, 48 and the Powerball was 18. The Power Play multiplier was 5.
Other prizes won Saturday evening included eleven tickets that matched 4 white numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000. Two additional tickets at this prize level were also wisely purchased with the Power Play option and multiplied winnings 5 times to $50,000 cash!
A total of 83,542 winning Powerball tickets multiplied their prizes by 5 Saturday. Players were able to do that by purchasing the Power Play option for one dollar. With Power Play you multiply your Powerball winnings from 2 to 5 times, except for the jackpot. At the beginning of each drawing a wheel is spun to select that night’s multiplier.
Players purchased $17,171,066 in Powerball and Power Play tickets between Thursday and Saturday night.
