South Africa’s Home Affairs Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma has signed a memorandum of understanding with her Mozambican counterpart, Jose Pacheco, to open the border between the two countries during the 2010 FIFA World Cup, her department said Tuesday.
“The agreement will facilitate movement between the two countries. This is part of the guarantee that the government gave to Fifa,” spokesperson Ronnie Mamoepa said.
He said the department hoped to sign similar agreements, which would expire on July 11, with other countries in the South African Development Community (SADC).
