Intelligence Service to Give Evidence At Inquests Into Death of Princess Diana the Princess of Wales

February 20, 2008

Princess_Diana_in_Bristol_1987 The Coroner hearing the inquests into the deaths of Diana, Princess of Wales, and Dodi al-Fayed has announced that further serving and former members of the Secret Intelligence Service (SIS) will give witness evidence during the week commencing 25 February 2008.

As they are serving and former members of SIS, arrangements will be made to enable the witnesses to give their evidence anonymously. This is in accordance with standard practice when officers of the UK intelligence and security agencies appear in court as witnesses.

It remains standard Government policy neither to confirm nor deny (”NCND”) whether any individual has/had any connection to the UK intelligence and security agencies. The sole exceptions are the Chief of SIS, the Director General of the Security Service and the Director of GCHQ, who are named publicly upon appointment.
