Quakes Rattle New Zealand’s South Island
October 15, 2007
A series of strong earthquakes measuring up to magnitude 6.7 have struck off the coast of New Zealand’s South Island.
New Zealand authorities say a large quake early Tuesday was followed by a series of strong aftershocks.
The quakes were widely felt by the island’s residents.
Authorities say the quakes caused small landslides but no major damage or injuries.
