Royal Air Maroc Pledges to Maintain Air-Senegal
May 5, 2008
Officials of Royal Air Moroc (RAM) on Monday pledged to endeavour to sustain Air Senegal, its majority shareholder with 51% of shares.
The company “commits itself with each collaborator of Air Senegal International to ensure the durability of the company and to the preservation of jobs”, a statement of the Moroccan company disclosed.
Besides, the company is poised to “support any new initiative of the Senegalese government”, which in last October announced its intention to take control of the majority of the company’s shares, the document said.
Royal Air Maroc (RAM) wants to “accompany this initiative in respect of the choice of the Senegalese State”, the statement said.
The activities of the joint commission set up to this end stopped since last November, RAM said, indicating that Air Senegal is now in a position to “face its current expenditures and pay-back its debts”.
