Rwandan President Paul Kagame Proceeds with Slight Cabinet Reshuffle
October 20, 2008
Rwandan President Paul Kagame on Sunday evening carried out a slight cabinet reshuffle by appointing his special envoy to the Great Lakes region, Dr. Richard Sezibera as the new minister of health.
A press release issued by the Prime minister’s office said Dr. Sezibera replaces Dr. Jean Damascene Ntawukuriryayo who has since joined the Rwandan parliamentary chamber of deputies as the deputy speaker in charge of finance and administration.
President Kagame also transferred Vincent Karega from the ministry of state in charge of investment and industry to that of environment and mining at the ministry of natural resources.
Karega replaced Prof. Bikoro Munyanganizi, who was last month elected as a member of parliament on the ruling party ticket.
Sezibera’s appointment as minister has been hailed by some analysts as deservedly long overdue because of his overzealous work in spearheading Rwanda’s entry into the East African Community and pending approval to the Commonwealth group.
Kagame also appointed Joseph Mutaboba as his special envoy to the Great Lakes region.
Dr.Agnes Bunagwaho, the former Executive secretary of national Aids Commission is now the new permanent secretary of the ministry of health. He is replaced by Dr. Anita Asiimwe.
Caroline Kayonga from the health ministry is the new permanent secretary of the ministry of natural resources.
