Sacred Hair Relics of Lord Buddha Continue Their Journey

The Sacred Hair Relics of Lord Buddha, which were taken to a special arena in Kataragama for public exposition, are being brought back to Colombo, Sri Lanka today.
Following the morning Buddha Pooja and the Thewawa of the Katharagama Dewalaya, the relics were placed in a special golden karaduwa by the Kataragama Dewalaya Basnayaka Nilame, Shashindara Kumara Rajapaksa, to be taken back to Colombo.

School children lined the road from Kataragama to Suriyawawa to offer their respects to the Sacred Relics. Thereafter the vehicle carrying the casket stopped at the Kawanthissa Raja Maha Viharaya, Embilipitiya and the historic Sankapala Viharaya in Colombage Ara so that devotees would be able to worship. Other scheduled stops include the Rathnapura Saman Dewalaya. Finally, the relics will be brought to the Hunupitiya Gangarama Temple this evening.
