April 30, 2008

Ugandan music lovers will usher in next month in style when they rock with Senegalese-American R&B music maestro Akon.

Mobile phone company, Celtel Uganda, is the main sponsor of the Akon show on May 2 at Lugogo cricket oval in the center of Kampala.

Akon is expected to jet into the country on Thursday.

All is set for the sensational night and tickets have almost sold out at more than 73 US dollars per ticket.

Organizers say the R&B star, who grew up in Senegal but later returned to New Jersey in the United States, will perform alongside Nigerian R&B sensational P. Square and other renowned Ugandan artists.

For the last one month, Akon’s music has dominated the airwaves on radio and television stations as well as night clubs in Kampala.
