125px-Flag_of_the_Seychelles.svgThe Seychelles ministry of Education is carrying out a series of meetings to explain the educational reforms that the government intends to carry out in the sector next year.

Addressing the staff of the ministry and the National institute of Education (NIE), the Principal Education Secretary Jeanne Simeon declared that the reforms will focus on five priority areas.

She added that the changes will provide for the diversity of educational needs and national development. They will also guarantee quality education in schools and improve the quality of teachers and the governance of educational institutions.

The reforms are also aimed at having responsible and empowered students, Simeon declared.

Also Simeon added that most of the reforms will be carried out in schools, and there will be meetings with teachers in November to explain to them the changes as well.

Simeon stated that school staff will get an overview of the new pastoral care model and its operational framework, the new secondary school structure, the inspectorate system and new mechanisms for improving teacher quality.

In conclusion, the Principal Education Secretary said that the necessary training will be given to ensure all is set for the launch of the program in January and that other stakeholders in the educational system, namely the National Council for Children and the Seychelles National Youth Council will also learn about the reforms.
