February 14, 2008
Lily Allen is hosting her own show, based on the social networking phenomenon that helped to launch her career. Viewers are invited to become Lily’s virtual friends and shape the show by contributing to topical discussions, putting questions to guests and even featuring in parts of the show.
The audience consists entirely of Lily’s online friends, who have to sign up at bbc.co.uk/lilyallen.
The website will also host exclusive video content from Lily, which the audience can add to their own social network profiles and websites.
Guests include the hottest celebrities, topical guests from the online world, chart-topping bands and lesser known acts chosen by Lily and members of her network.
Lily Allen And Friends will also follow the progress of the breaking new music acts showcased on the program.
Danny Cohen, Controller, BBC Three, said “I’m delighted to welcome Lily to BBC Three. She’s one of the hottest acts around and an important voice of her generation.
“Lily Allen And Friends will have its own unique identity as the audience will be intrinsic to the show’s content via social networking. Lily launched herself on the web and is the perfect host for this exciting new show.”
Elaine Bedell, Controller, BBC Entertainment Commissioning, said “Lily is opinionated, funny and charming in equal measure. She’s a very natural performer and will be a television star.
“I’m delighted that she’s going to be one of the BBC’s key entertainment faces.”
