125px-Flag_of_Morocco.svg_The southern provinces of Morocco will be among the first beneficiaries of the advanced regionalization project which reflects a commitment for the renovation and modernization of public facilities and the consolidation of integrated development, King Mohammed VI said Sunday night in a speech to the nation.

“We intend, among other major objectives, to make recovered southern provinces among the first beneficiaries of the advanced regionalization,” the Moroccan king was quoted by the Moroccan news agency (MAP) as saying.

According to King Mohammed VI, “Morocco cannot confine itself to the status quo while the enemies of our territorial integrity strive to hinder the UN process which is aimed at finding a realistic and mutually acceptable political solution to the contrived dispute over these provinces ; a solution based on our autonomy initiative reserved for the Moroccan Sahara.

He recalled that “this initiative, with UN credibility, is still appropriate for any serious and responsible negotiations to lead to a much called-for realistic and final resolution.”

“We are determined to move forward in achieving our commitment to allow loyal residents and sons of our Moroccan Sahara to have greater leeway in managing their own local affairs and this, within the framework of the advanced regionalization, that we will implement with a sovereign national will.”

He said he expected everyone will show “strong mobilization and get the full measure of strategic goals for this decisive project of advanced regionalization, in light of which we will assess the success of large structural reforms that we are supervising”.
