125px-Flag_of_Nigeria.svg-Copy11The Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Mr Dimeji Bankole, has called on Muslims to be selfless and to put Nigeria first in whatever they do in his Sallah message to Nigerians on Wednesday in Abuja.

Bankole said that the Eid el Kabir celebration was significant, considering the selfless service rendered to humanity by Prophet Mohammed, adding that Nigerians should emulate the virtues of the prophet.

He said that the occasion should serve as a period of reflection on Allah’s love for humanity and a period to share and remember the less-privileged.

Bankole told Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of forgiveness and live in harmony with one another, in spite of religious and political differences.

He charged Muslims to be steadfast in their faith as only those who put their trust in Allah would receive Allah’s favor.

“All of us who are Muslims faithful should realize that we are like birds of passage here on earth, as such, seeking to amass all the wealth without the fear and love of Allah will deprive us of eternal life,’’ he said.

He urged elected officials and public office holders to have the fear of Allah in rendering services to the people.

The Nigerian government has declared Thursday and Friday as public holidays to mark Eid el Kabir.
