Sri Lanka Air Force Targets LTTE Mortar Positions Using Russian Built Gunships

The Sri Lanka Air Force launched an aerial attack targeting LTTE mortar positions located North of the Yodawawa area. Russian built MI 24 helicopter gunships were used in the attack, according to defense sources.
Sources added that the attacks were carried out around 12.30 pm yesterday (04) on information obtained through military intelligence reports. The targets have been accurately hit, the sources added citing helicopter pilots.
Meanwhile military reports received from the Mannar battlefront yesterday indicate that four terrorists have been killed so far during the day’s battles.
Reports revealed that 2 terrorists have been killed by snipers deployed in the Adampan and Malikaittidal areas.
“Also, intercepted radio transmission among LTTE elements reveal that 2 terrorists have been killed and 8 others injured in the air raid conducted at LTTE mortar positions in the Alankulma area last afternoon,” defense sources reported.
Sources from Northeast of Parappakandal said that one soldier has suffered injuries due to LTTE mortar fire.
