Sri Lanka’s Air Force Hits LTTE Gathering

An LTTE gathering located in the general area of Iluppaikkadavai, 5 km north of Vidattaltivu, came under Sri Lanka Air Force MI-24 helicopter gunship attack this noon, defense sources said.
The Air Force spokesperson Wing Commander Janaka Nanayakkara said that the air raid was carried out in support of ground troops marching northwards after continuous air surveillance of the LTTE gathering.
Monitoring of LTTE radio communications has revealed that the terrorists have asked for more vehicles to evacuate their casualties, the spokesperson added.
The LTTE terrorists have started to withdraw towards Iluppaikkadavai, north of Vidattaltivu, with the fall of Vidattaltivu to the Security Forces yesterday (16).
