The Sudanese billionaire, Mo Ibrahim, who is undertaking various investments in Africa with over $700 million, has shown interest in investing in Ethiopia in various sectors, APA learned Tuesday.

Ibrahim, is in Addis Ababa holding discussions with various Ethiopian government officials.

On Tuesday while discussing with the Ethiopian deputy Primw Minister and minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Addisu Legesse, Ibrahim assured Legesse his interest in being involved in various investment sectors in Ethiopia as he did in other countries.

Legesse in turn briefed Ibrahim about the investment opportunities in Ethiopia, mainly in the agricultural sector, which he said is full of human resources and services.

Ibrahim is also undertaking various investments in 15 other African countries, mainly in energy, agro-processing, natural resources and other areas.

Establishing the Mo Ibrahim Foundation in 2006, Ibrahim is working to enhance good governance in Africa. As part of this initiative, the foundation started in 2007 to award $5 million for a former African leader who promoted good governance during his presidency, and who transferred power through peaceful means.

Last year, the former president of Mozambique Joaquim Chissano was the winner of the $5 million award, and the foundation is scheduled to announce the second winner in three weeks time in London.
