Sudanese Leader to Pardon Rebel Child Soldiers for Omdurman Attack

The Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir on Wednesday pledged to pardon the Darfur rebel child soldiers of the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) who were involved in an attack on the Sudanese capital’s suburb of Omdurman more than two months ago.
While addressing several thousands of people who gathered to listen to him in the South Darfur capital of Nyala, al Bashir pledged to issue a decree pardoning all the children who have been accused of involvement in the attack on Omdurman on May 10.
President al-Bashir also promised ton concentrate on children’s health and educational services while calling upon all the Darfur rebel groups in that fragile region to start peace initiatives.
Meanwhile, the leader of one of the rebel groups, the Sudan Liberation Movement, Abdul Wahid Mohamed Al-Nur has issued a statement denouncing President al-Bashir’s visit to Darfur.
