Suspect Manchester Based Wholesaler Wound Up
August 5, 2008
A Manchester-based company, Nu Genesis Trading Ltd, that traded as a wholesaler and general trader has been wound up in the High Court following an investigation by the Companies Investigation Branch (CIB) of the Insolvency Service.
Confidential enquiries were carried out by CIB into the Manchester-based company, which carried on the business of “wholesale and general trading”.
CIB found that the company had filed suspicious financial statements at Companies House allegedly prepared by an untraceable accountancy firm. The company had made a number of applications for credit using false information and had obtained goods on credit to a value of, at least £35,000. At the time of the enquiry it had been abandoned by its officers.
In making the Order, the Court heard that there was a real concern that the company was incorporated, or may have been used, as a vehicle for fraud and that, if the company remained on the register, there was a danger that it may, in the future, be resurrected as a vehicle for fraud.
