Professor Alphonse Djedje Mady, the Chairman of the RHDP gave the information, on behalf of this coalition of four political parties : PDCI, RDR, UDPCI, and MFA.

In his statement, Mr. Mady condemned the inquiry launched by the Interior Ministry, in connection with the 429,000 people who, according to the presidential majority, had been fraudulently registered to vote by the CEI.

“The ruling FPI’s intention is to bring discredit upon the CEI chairman and the whole institution he is leading,” he said, adding that the “presidential side tries to spread unrest in the country.”

For the opposition, the ruling FPI intends to stall the electoral process and jeopardize the future of democracy in Cote d’Ivoire.

“They want to keep out the CEI from the organization of the elections, in favor of the Interior Ministry,” Alphonse Djedje Mady concluded.

The Chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission, Robert Beugre Mambe has been accused by the presidential side of trying to fraudulently register 429,000 voters.

This “affair” continues to stir up some political wrangling, especially between the presidential side, the opposition of the Rally of the Houphouetists for Democracy and Peace and some of the country’s civil society organizations.
