The Perils of a Primary Campaign - Political Opinion

April 10, 2008

The most recent AP poll has John McCain in a statistical dead heat with both Democrats:

McCain 45%
Obama 45%

Clinton 48%
McCain 45%

This is a harbinger of doom for the Democratic Party.

While the nomination is beginning to look more and more like it is out of reach for Hillary Clinton, her campaign is leaving nothing on the table. They have successfully raised character questions about Barack Obama and have effectively portrayed him as just another politician.

Obama’s ruse worked early in the primary season bringing young and elitist Democrats into his camp. But as the rest of the nation now begins to pay attention, they are tuning into a very different image of Obama.
