Tony Blair Pledges Support for Rwanda’s Development Agenda

February 24, 2008

Tony BlairFormer British Premier Tony Blair on Sunday said he would do everything possible to help Rwanda’s development process. Addressing journalists immediately after meeting Kagame at the President’s Office in Kigali, Mr Blair expressed interest in contributing to Rwanda’s development due to the country’s “dark past” alluding to the genocide that claimed a million Tutsis and moderate Hutus in 1994.

The question now, he went on, is how to build the capability of Rwandans and pledged to attain the ambition with the help of Mr Kagame’s leadership.

Blair then expressed his “strong liking” for Kagame and hence his decision to take up a voluntary role as advisor to the tiny east African country.

For his part, the Rwandan leader expressed gratitude towards Blair’s gesture, saying, “Tony (Blair) brings a lot of experience, capabilities and the connections he has internationally-to fit very well into what we are trying to do and renders invaluable support to achieve results that we want.”

“I believe People have been coming to help Rwanda out of good choice and really out of their conscience that they could render support where progress is being made,” he said while defending Mr Blair’s option of voluntary service in Rwanda.

Blair, who will be leaving the country on Monday February 25 also met the President of the Senate, Dr Vincent Biruta, but details of the meeting remain confidential.

Tony Blair is a guy who put his hand in blood for financial gain.He and Bush started Iraq war as he and “I didn’t have sexual relationship with that woman” Clinton started the war in the Congo D.R.
His visit after Bush trip to Rwanda ,show how low he can get when is money or freebies. He went just to know how heavy the cheque Bush is going to come out of there and want to know if there is any thing left there from him.
