The Turkish ambassador in Nigeria, Mr Aykut Sezgin, has said Turkey is prepared to explore the many investment opportunities in Nigeria to further cement the good ties between the two countries.
Sezgin told journalists in Abuja at the opening of a two-day Nigeria-Turkish Trade Summit organized by the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) on Monday that although Turkey already had investments in manufacturing, construction, education and health sectors, it was not satisfied with its current level of investments in Nigeria.
This, he added, was because of the huge investment opportunities in Nigeria.
Sezgin expressed the hope that the forum would open more windows of opportunities to further explore and enhance mutually beneficial areas for Turkish-Nigeria bilateral relations.
“The Turkish business community is more than ever interested in investing in Nigeria, given the foreign direct investment initiatives of the Federal Government,” he added.
The envoy urged the business communities of both countries to take advantage of the opportunities that abound in both countries.
Nigeria’s Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Mr Adetokunbo Kayode, said that the Nigerian government had put in place regulatory and a legal framework that would ensure that investors did their businesses without any hindrance.
He said the huge investment opportunities in Nigeria made the country the commercial hub of West Africa.
Kayode noted that NIPC had put in place a ‘One-Stop’ Investment Centre (OSIC) that would address the challenges posed by both regulatory and legal framework of doing business in Nigeria.
The 180-member Turkish delegation, including representatives of the government and the private sector, are participating in the summit.
The members of the delegation are expected to hold bilateral talks with their Nigerian counterparts and also participate in the ongoing 31st Kaduna International Trade Fair.
