Chances are filmmaker Steven Spielberg and actor Will Smith will team up for a remake of Korean director Chan-Wook Park’s 2003 ‘Oldboy.’

According to Variety magazine, American film studio DreamWorks is in the process of securing the remake rights

In the original, a man is kidnapped and held in a dingy hotel room for 15 years without explanation. Suddenly, he’s released with money, a cell phone and clothes and to find out who destroyed his life and take his revenge.

The film won a slew of international awards, including the Cannes Grand Jury Prize.

Incidentally Sanjay Gupta also remade the movie (not surprisingly without giving credit) in 2005 as Zinda with Sanjay Dutt, John Abraham and Lara Dutta.
