The World Bank will collaborate with Nigeria in the area of sustainable development and spur the use of renewable energy, including wind and solar energy, the bank’s Sector Director for Sustainable Development, Jamal Triguil, assured Nigerian officials on Friday in Abuja.
At a meeting with the Nigeria’s Minister of Environment John Odey on Friday, Triguil highlighted the importance of low carbon economy to poverty reduction.
He emphasized the need for the use of renewable energy, including wind and solar energy.
In his response, Odey thanked the World Bank for its support on the sustainable development of Nigeria.
Odey said that tackling erosion and drought had remained the major challenges to the government because of their multiple negative effects on the population.
